"Visualizing Your Network - Featuring Visio 2010"
Prior to Visio 2007, Visio had interesting but hard-to-use data visualization capabilities. Visio 2007 and Visio 2010 radically improve the
ways that Visio can represent data in Visio diagrams, whether that data resides in Excel, Access, SQL Server or a SharePoint list. The focus
for this presentation is to show real world examples for visualizing business data about networks, servers and business processes. Along
the way, we?ll explore some of the new features of Visio 2010 including lists and containers, live preview, Visio services, BPMN diagrams,
business rules and SharePoint Workflow Designer integration.
Scott Helmers is Vice President of Product Planning and Support at the Harvard Computing Group (HCG), a software and consulting firm that assists
organizations with understanding relevant technologies and making decisions about business applications and processes. Scott is a co-inventor of
TaskMap, a Visio add-in that that allows anyone to document all of the important aspects of any business process. He is a Visio MVP and is the
primary Visio expert at Experts-Exchange.com.
Scott has worked with clients in Afghanistan, India, Singapore, Malaysia, Jordan, Egypt, Ireland, Saudi Arabia, Canada and the United States on
projects involving knowledge management, specification of new IT systems, process mapping and redesign, and technology training. He is the author
of Data Communications: A Beginner's Guide to Concepts and Technology (Prentice-Hall) and has been an Adjunct Professor at both Northeastern
and Boston Universities.

Defraggler, free, www.piriform.com/products

Tim Mangan will present:
TMNetSim, free, www.tmurgent.com/Tools.aspx
Tim built this tool for use in his labs and has proved quite popular. It is like a bad WAN on a PC. You can control latency and loss, and inject jitter on
the connection to better simulate a shared WAN. It works on one protocol at a time to aid in the investigation of performance implications.
PingTool, free, www.tmurgent.com/Tools.aspx
Tool to throw packets around. Tim developed this tool when he was working for router vendors and needed to stress things.
It does more than just ICMP, and improperly used it can be a security risk.
